Sheila was born in East Tennessee, raised on a farm and has always been involved with raising food for her family.  She and her husband have three adult children and two adorable grandchildren.  The Rays live on a 200 acre farm in Grandview where they raise grass-fed cattle and chickens, do organic gardening and maintain 65 bee hives.

Sheila became interested in bees 16 years ago while researching ways to improve pollination for her organic garden.  As she learned more about bees and their importance in healthy, sustainable food production she became deeply involved in all phases of beekeeping.  Sheila says that although beekeeping is a lot of work and it’s challenging to keep bees alive, she finds this work as relaxing as meditation.  At a time when 70% of worldwide bee population is dying, Sheila is justifiably proud that she has been able to keep her 65 hives alive and healthy.

Living Your Final Chapter: Voice Your Choice

Presenter: Dr. Gregory Phelps, MD, MPH

Wednesday, September 24: Meet and Greet – 6:30 pm, Program – 7 pm

Studies confirm that Americans want to voice their choices about the last chapters of their lives. Similarly, studies show doctors are reluctant to engage patients in advance care planning or even "when to say when."  Gregory Phelps, MD, MPH, FHPM, will discuss the complexities of Advanced Care Planning and the limitations of medical care.  Dr. Phelps is Medical Director at UT Hospice, and is certified in Family Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and Medical Management.

Door Prize: Complementary Healing Touch session ($50 value) donated by Rose Koziara.
