Lynne moved from Southern California to Chattanooga in 1975 with her daughter Sarina and late husband Jim. They opened J & L Cycle Supply, and in 1978 Lynne opened The Needleworks in East Ridge.  The shop carried supplies for all types of needlework, hand & machine knitting, crochet and smocking.  Lynne also offered classes, custom design and finishing services. After closing the retail shop in 1984, Lynne opened The String Slinger’s Studio and developed The Easy Learning Video series of machine knitting lessons with workbooks.  Loop Embossing, the fifth lesson in the series, is a surface design technique and the theme for two nationwide design competitions sponsored by The String Slinger, a group of designer yarn companies, and The Knitting Guild of America.

Homeopathy is a method of addressing the health of the whole individual, which often results in an overall sense of well-being.  Healing through homeopathy is safe, gentle and effective.  Many problems respond much faster to homeopathy than to conventional medicine.  I treat chronic problems where conventional medicine can only mask the symptoms and/or create intolerable side effects.

A major “crash and burn” type event over 20 years ago turned my own nutritional lifestyle around, and I began in earnest about 15 years ago informally studying in the natural health field.  When we moved to the small farm we have now, I plunged into growing organic produce, sold to local restaurants and the food co-op for a few years (until my back said “enough”!).  This led to formal studies leading to an advanced diploma in homeopathy and a doctorate in veterinary naturopathy.  I originally started in the natural health field with regard to humans, but my childhood desire to work with animals kept popping up and when I found the veterinary naturopathy program, I jumped on it.

Q. What brought you to Alternative Health and the field/product you’re involved with?

A. I have always been interested in the health field. My undergraduate work was in nursing and physical therapy. For some reason, I knew that nursing and physical therapy was not right for me. At this time, I had no idea about Acupuncture. My dad was Dr. Michael Buckridge, may he rest in peace. He was a Chiropractor in Morristown TN. In 2004, I went through a divorce. My life was changing. At this time, my dad was continuing his education in Acupuncture. He encouraged me to go back to school. I took his advice, and graduated from the American Academy of Acupuncture in Roseville MN in 2009.

Valerie has been a registered occupational therapist since 1969.  As a practitioner of yoga, she was drawn into alternative practice in Knoxville in 1994.  She practices myofascial bodywork, Thai massage,  yoga teaching, yoga therapeutics, and Yamuna BodyRolling from her home in Farragut.  Valerie’s main focus is for her clients to take charge of their own pain and become proactive, using a method that suits them best.  She borrows the Tantric yoga image of warp and weft on the loom:  fascial fabric is plastic, and can reform to alleviate pain.

Music is the bridge between the body and the soul. There is music everywhere we go, and we take it with us wherever we go. From a spiritual perspective, the music has resonated with your higher self/soul and is raising your vibrations. Decades ago I started my journey to find out WHY.

Every Westerner has at least 2 devices that produce music; many have more than 5 and I have something in every room of my house!

Q:Tell us about yourself in 65 words or less.

A: The wake-up call for me has been about fearlessly getting out there and empowering people to be passionate about their dreams and their health.  I enjoy helping messengers and change agents share their gifts and calling with the world. By sharing simple practical self care tools that get results quickly and easily, people are able to cut through obstacles, stress, and pain and then flourish.
